Learners celebrate Grandparents’ Day by embracing the elderly

“The interaction between the preschoolers and the seniors was heartwarming,”

Plenty of warm hugs went around when the residents of Thembalami Care Centre and Max Ordman Deaf Association (MODA) visited Edenvale’s Willowbrook Montessori Preschool on September 11 for grandparents’ day.

They enjoyed doing puzzles and colouring in, but the real fun was outdoors, where the residents played with the children.

“The interaction between the preschoolers and the seniors was heart-warming,” said Thembalami occupational therapist Tsakani Shihlomule.

Thirugavelli Pillay plays with the children in the spring sunshine.

“A resident, Thirugavelli Pillay, read the children a story. The children sang beautifully for us, and we enjoyed refreshments. It was a meaningful, fun outing,” she said.
