“We are facing a shortfall in funding because residents are not donating as we hoped they would. Business contributions come in waves and for specified time periods.

“Without steady monthly donations from residents, Better Bedfordview risks halting its vital activities,” she stated.

The organisation appeals to all residents to donate R200 a month, but any amount is welcomed.

“Compliments and encouragement on social media are appreciated, but they cannot replace the financial support we need to keep our neighbourhood clean, green and well-maintained.

“We urgently need monthly donations from our residents to sustain our operations and continue making a difference,” Constas stressed.

“Better Bedfordview has improved the appearance of the neighbourhood, made it safer, helped to maintain and grow property values, and enhanced the overall quality of life in Bedfordview since the organisation was started by concerned residents.

“We clean streets, pick up litter, weed, cut grass, paint, pave, plant and fix potholes,” she explained.

“Our neighbourhood would not look like this without the efforts of Better Bedfordview’s cleanup team and our dedicated, hardworking volunteer directors and committee members.

“We now need all residents to show that they care, too, by donating monthly to Better Bedfordview.”

To date, Better Bedfordview has repaired more than 734 potholes and also improved road safety by painting road markings, speed bumps and sign poles.

“Our paving repairs mean fewer tripping hazards and safer, useable pavements for pedestrians, walkers and runners. Better Bedfordview has created employment opportunities in our cleanup team for youth and previously unemployed South Africans.”
