Suspects caught with vehicle jamming devices by Edenvale SAPS

Edenvale Police Station's communication officer Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile said the arrests were made on the afternoon of July 19.

Edenvale SAPS arrested three suspects for being in possession of a jamming device and implements used for the theft of vehicles.

He said the suspects were two men and a woman.

“While Edenvale officers were on duty patrolling, Mamba Security informed them that a wanted vehicle had been flagged by Edenvale CPF’s license plate recognition camera system, ” said Mashile.

He said Mamba followed the vehicle to Eden Terrace Shopping Centre where the vehicle was intercepted.

“Police were summoned and the vehicle was searched thoroughly, that’s when the jamming device was found,” said Mashile.

Mashile said after further investigation it was revealed that the suspects’ vehicle was linked to two cases of theft of motor vehicles around the Edenvale area.

Station commander Colonel Ntombomzi Basholo thanked the security company for its assistance.

She encouraged security companies to work in partnership with the SAPS to eradicate crime in Edenvale.
