CoE calls on owners of impounded cars to come forward

Some vehicles were impounded after involvement in accidents, for contravening the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 or the city’s by-laws.

The CoE has called on the owners of vehicles impounded by the EMPD before December 31, 2023, to collect their vehicles before 15:00 on July 12.

About 141 vehicles are kept at the EMPD pounds.

Some vehicles were impounded after involvement in accidents, for contravening the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 or the city’s by-laws.

“Owners must bring their vehicle registration certificate, proof of ownership, identity document, and pound fees.

When the owner can not afford to pay the pound fees, they must apply to the CoE chief of police to reduce them,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

The CoE will dispose of vehicles not claimed before the abovementioned date.

The municipal pounds are open between 08:00 and 15:00 from Monday to Friday.
