Fellowship groups lend a hand to Child Welfare Edenvale and Bedforview

As an NPO suffering from funding cuts, it needs help from community members and businesses.

The Men’s Fellowship and Father’s Fellowship members lent a hand to the NPO Child Welfare SA – Edenvale and Bedfordview.

The groups from the Illiondale-based Impact Community Church visited the welfare on June 17 and tested their handyman skills by improving the welfare’s facilities.

As an NPO suffering from funding cuts, it needs help from community members and businesses.

Peter Wilkinson from the groups said he met the welfare’s administrator last year when he was Father Christmas at its Christmas party.

“I learnt further of their plight and felt God’s calling to help further when I spoke to Jenny and the team,’ said Wilkinson.

When at the welfare, the men:

• fixed the broken Jungle Gym;

• added additional security bars to some windows;

• replaced some damaged gutters;

• prepared some areas with damp proofing before painting commences;

• cleaned up some broken tiles;

• fixed shade port; and

• improved the Wi-Fi coverage.

The two groups thanked Marc De Sousa and Central Build It Edenvale, who sponsored the materials.

Based at Impact Community Church, the two groups are fellowship groups.

“They both aim to be a support group for men, to give fellowship while being God’s hands and feet and to grow in God’s Word,” said Wilkinson.

He said the groups believe there are outreach needs in Edenvale.

“While we aren’t a big group, we do what we can with the contacts we have. We also partner with The Edenvale Brothers in Christ group on projects,” said Wilkinson.
