Community bares it all for Cansa at Dros Eden Meadows

“We recently had a cancer scare and this was my way of showing my support,”

Community members showed their support for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) when they cut and coloured their hair at Dros Eden Meadows.

The colourful and family-friendly shavathon was the second of its kind hosted by the restaurant. It was held on March 2.

Marlene Capazovio, from the restaurant, said it was great to host the event for another year.

“We plan to keep on having our annual shavathon and hope to keep building momentum,” she said.

Community member Marlene Naidoo was one of several people who had her hair shaved. She was the only woman that Bedfordview and Edenvale News witnessed having her head shaved.

Like fellow participants, she donated her ponytail to CANSA.

Marlene said cancer is a common disease among family members. “We recently had a cancer scare and this was my way of showing my support,” she said.

Face painters and balloon modellers were also on hand keeping community members entertained with colourful creations.
