Letter: City responds to resident’s complaint about water leaks

CoE spokesperson said the city is making progress on attending to the long outstanding water leaks in Bedfordview.

Editor’s comment – City of Ekurhuleni’s spokesperson Zweli Dlamini commented as follows to the letter, Resident at wits’ end about water leaks in Bedfordview, published on September 27.

“The City of Ekurhuleni has the constitutional obligation to ensure the provision of services to communities in a sustainable, efficient and economical manner which includes our essential water/sewage infrastructures.

It is in our Constitution that the public administration must be accountable.

“The city is making progress on attending to the long outstanding water leaks in the Bedfordview area.

“The officials responsible for attending to water leaks are in regular contact to ensure that the leaks are speedily addressed.

“Regrettably, the appointment of contractors for as-and-when-required assistance with the repair of water leaks has not been concluded yet.”
