Changes made to Little Eden’s board

The meeting allowed the organisation to reflect on its achievements over the past year.

Little Eden Society’s 55th AGM saw changes to the previous board because the organisation continues to grow.

Held on July 22 at City Lodge Hotel, OR Tambo, the attendees included donors, residents, staff and parents.

The society’s public relations and communications co-ordinator, Gaahele Mokgoro, said the meeting allowed the organisation to reflect on its achievements over the past year.

It also allowed Little Eden to unveil their accomplishments highlighted in the 2023 annual report, themed Blessed.

Mokgoro said the report provided an in-depth overview of the society’s various initiatives, breakthroughs and milestones achieved throughout the reporting period.

During the meeting, the chairperson of the board of governors, CEO and treasurer delivered their respective reports, giving insights into Little Eden’s financial performance, governance, and operational achievements and challenges.

The honorary lifetime president of Little Eden, Cavaliere Lucy Hyams Slaviero, addressed the audience at the AGM.

The attendees received a comprehensive analysis of the societal impact made possible through the collective efforts of Little Eden’s team, donors and partners.

The CEO of Little Eden, Xelda Rohrbeck, reflected on their challenges over the past year.

She said the building renovations at the Edenvale facility were a blessing to all at Little Eden and their stakeholders.

Residents and family members who attended expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the society’s work.

Reverend Douglas Boake thanked PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc (PwC), DesignerArt Graphics, Mortimer Offset, Alchemy Creatives Studios and Psychosocial Analytics for their pro bono services to produce the 2023 integrated annual report.

Parent Maria Gama expressed her gratitude to the Little Eden Society at the AGM.

The society thanked City Lodge Hotel at OR Tambo for sponsoring the venue and refreshments.

Mokgoro said the society was grateful to all its stakeholders for their continued commitment and belief in the organisation’s mission.

During the board meeting after the AGM, it was confirmed that Luigi Slaviero would take over as chairperson from Boake, who stepped down after five years.

Thato Nkosi took over as vice chairperson from Maurizio Galimberti, and Sedzani Mudau remains treasurer.

Little Eden Society, an NPO, provides lifelong care to children and adults living with profound intellectual disability.

It has done so for the past 56 years and hopes, with the community’s support, to continue doing so.
