Local football club relaunches on Youth Day

Senderwood United Football Club wants to recruit additional players to support the team’s ambitions.

The excitement was palpable at the relaunch of the Senderwood United Football Club team in an event held on Youth Day.

The club held the June 16 launch at Chaucer Par, the team’s training ground.

The community and Ward 20 committee members Vis Naidoo (Sport, Recreation, Arts, Culture) and youth representative Keketsi Mafoyane attended.

Clr Jill Humphreys was a key proponent of this launch and congratulated the team for bringing quality soccer to the community.

“We encourage the community to come out and support the team at their home games,” she added.

Naidoo said the team had the community’s support and encouraged them to have fun.

Team captain Brendan Nqoko pledged his commitment to the team’s success and aimed to bring high-quality soccer to the community.

In addition to the 10 players already signed up, Senderwood United wants to recruit additional players to support the team’s ambitions.

They are accepting applications from talented and dedicated players interested in joining the squad.

They practice on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 17:00 to 18:30.

Those wanting to support or join the team are welcome.

The Senderwood Centre, Better Neighbourhoods – Senderwood and Bagel &, a coffee shop, pledged their support to the team, and representatives of all three organisations attended the launch.

The team requested donations from individuals and organisations willing to support its endeavours.

Donations can be made at the training grounds during practices.

With their first match next month, Senderwood United expressed their ambition to build a robust team to compete favourably in the league.

“We have a talented pool of players who are willing and ready to do the work to win games,” said Nqoko.
