Members of the community who assisted included the sports grounds committee, Essentially Edenvale, local councillors, Edenvale CPF, Lethabong Taxi Association FC, Edenvale Lions, and learners from Edenglen and Edenvale high schools.
The clean-up took place on April 23.
Lisa Atkins of Essentially Edenvale said the clean-up was held as a means for the community to take the sports grounds back.
She said on April 20 a meeting was held with various departments from the city and law enforcement where it was discussed on how to better secure the facility.
Lisa said the sports grounds committee is in discussions with a local business to have 700m of fencing sponsored.
This fencing will be used to better secure the eastern and northern walls of the sports grounds.
She said on the day litter, debris and excessive vegetation were removed from the property.

One of Essentially Edenvale’s plans in store for the facility is to convert the unused scout hall near the basketball court into a youth centre.
Lisa said the group intends to clean and fix it up so that the youth of the community have a safe place to study.
