R 10 000 up for grabs for local schools Easter egg exhibition

12 schools have entered Bedford Centre’s Eggs-Hibition competition which will run from March 27 to April 14.

Local schools are battling it out for the best Easter egg exhibition in pursuit of winning R10 000.

Twelve schools have entered Bedford Centre’s Eggs-Hibition competition, which will run from March 27 to April 14.

Queens High School.

The schools include Edenglen High School, Reddam House, Bedfordview High School, Primrose High School, Crawford International, Queens High School, Sacred Heart, Holy Rosary School, Saheti School, Elandspark School, Assumption Convent School and St Benedict’s College.

Each school received a one-metre-high egg to decorate. The brief was to be creative and enjoy crafting an exquisite design that is ‘eye-catching and expressive’.

The centre invited shoppers to support the participating schools by voting for their favourite egg.

The centre’s Jenny Griesel said, “We are ‘eggs-cited’ to announce that we will fill our halls with chocolate, cheer and charming installations this Easter.”

Saheti School.

Additional to the speckled dot installation currently on view, the centre will be hosting an Easter ‘eggs-hibition’ featuring the giant Easter eggs, decorated by the 12 schools.

“The result is a collection of striking creations which represents the diverse voices of the youth and their artistic talent.”

Holy Rosary School.

The centre’s speckled-dot art installation is in front of the escalators on the lower level.

From Bedfordview High School.

Inspired by Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, shoppers are welcome to enjoy this vibrant experience by changing a white space into a flamboyant one using colourful dot stickers.

“Shoppers will receive a sheet of stickers in various sizes, to apply anywhere they would like, to help transform the white installation into a riot of colours.”

Sacred Heart College.

There is no cost to view the eggs exhibition or to participate in the speckled dot installation.

The general manager, Linda Linnow, said, “We encourage all shoppers to vote to acknowledge the hard work of the schools and to celebrate the wonderful creativity on display.”

Primrose High School.
