Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital held its first Pregnancy Awareness Day on the 10th.
The hospital’s obstetrics and gynaecologist Dr Esther Rockson shared with patients the importance of being comfortable and open with a gynaecologist.
“The event was educational as the doctor advised that the pregnancy journey is memorable, being comfortable and able to speak to your gynaecologist is crucial,” said marketing manager Asiphe Hlela.
Specialist paediatrician Dr Molefi Pholo tackled the importance of postpartum mental health, explaining that it is normal to feel depressed after giving birth.
“At times you won’t even want to touch your baby. Parents should not beat themselves up about it instead be willing to speak about it,” he said.
