Saheti wows with 276 distinctions for its class of 2022

Hannah Hill has been named an Outstanding Achiever by the IEB, ranking within the top five per cent of candidates nationally in six or more subjects.

Saheti School’s Hannah Hill obtained a full house distinction in eleven subjects and achieved an average of 95%.
This was followed closely by Ivan Chen and Stefanos Aristides, who obtained 10 distinctions each.

Then Keeran Moodley bagged nine, with Gianluca Caldeira and Katerina Chronias securing eight distinctions each.

Hill said having a balance between school and personal life played a huge role in her success.

“You won’t have the focus or motivation if you are not doing things that you enjoy like socialising, family, sleeping, eating and exercising.

“We underestimate how much it all contributes. I was always aiming for 11 distinctions because I knew I could do it,” she said.

She plans to study medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand.

The class of 2022 achieved 276 distinctions with 3.5 distinctions per candidate.

Eighty-seven per cent of the 78 matriculants earned distinctions, while 99% achieved a bachelor’s degree pass.

Three Saheti students have been included on the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) outstanding achievements list, with 21 placements in the IEB top 1% of candidates per subject.

Moodley has an interest in studying actuarial science. He expressed his blissfulness by explaining that he took an unstructured approach to study.

“I worked on intuition. I didn’t measure how hard I was working. It was more about what I felt I needed to study and studied that more.”

Tassopoulos said she was going to study actuarial science as well but will be moving abroad before the end of the year.

Saheti School’s top matric achiever Gianluca Caldeira obtained eight distinctions.

Their advice to the class of 2023 is to not feel pressured rather focus on themselves.
