Bedfordview Police caution shoppers against Black Friday scammers

“A lot of people have been scammed online because they failed to verify a site before they make a purchase."

Shoppers are alerted of possible scams during the Black Friday shopping craze on November 25.

This is according to the police spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga.

She cautioned shoppers to be on the lookout for scammers, especially with online purchases.

“Before making payment make ensure the site you are using is legit and secured. If you are not sure, do not make the purchase.

“A lot of people have been scammed online because they failed to verify a site before they make a purchase,” she explained.

She also advised residents to take care of their valuables when going to the malls and shopping centres.

Things to keep in a secure place include cellphones, car keys, bank cards and money. Do not place your handbags on your shopping trollies.

Your purchases or personal belongings should be in the car boot.

Ensuring that your car is locked at all times.
