Local development centre is looking for your old computer parts

Donations may be dropped off at the ECDC offices, 236 Victoria Street, on weekdays between 08:00 and 15:00.

The Ekukhanyeni Community Development Centre in Germiston urged businesses and residents to heed their call for computers.

“It doesn’t matter if they are working or not,” said the manager of the community development centre, Yvonne Deetlefs.

Deetlefs said trainers will repair those which can be fixed or use them for parts.

“The refurbished products are then sold to other students at good prices, which allows them to have computer access outside the training facility. Funds that are left over go towards the funding of the ECDC.”

“Donated laptops and computers are used by the ECDC to train students on the end-user computer course, to identify the internal parts of a computer and to be able to fix problems,” said volunteer Janis Chapman.
