Runners take it to the streets of Edenvale for the Interclub Time Trial Championships

The initiative was started to encourage greater interaction between community running clubs.

Runners from community athletics clubs took to the streets of Edenvale when Rand Road Warriors hosted the final instalment of the Interclub Time Trial Championships.

Held on June 24, runners from Greenstone Hill Running Club, Rand Road Warriors, Bedfordview Athletics, Jeppe Athletics and Nedbank Running Club, participated.

The final championship time trial saw 114 community members set off from Rand Road Warriors headquarters at Edenvale Bowling Club before running a 4km route through parts of Edenvale Ridge and Marais Steyn Park.

Launched in February, the free time trials were held monthly and rotated so that each club had an opportunity to host the trials.

The first three male runners to cross the finish line were:

-Christoff Vermeulen of Nedbank Running Club – 12:03.

– Cameron Dansie of Nedbank Running Club – 13:49.

-Calvin Sangweni of Nedbank Running Club – 14:02.

The first three female athletes to finish were:

-Lauren Argall of Jeppe Athletics – 16:45.

– Tristan Torr of Nedbank Running Club – 17:29.

– Ruth Davis of Nedbank Running Club 18:32.

The main prizes and awards will be presented at a prize-giving on July 23.
