Six arrests for BFS

Officers from the Benoni Flying Squad arrested six suspects, and recovered two motor vehicles, three trailers, a motorbike and an unlicensed firearm on June 2.

At around 06:50 on the day, officers patrolling the N12 towards Johannesburg noticed that the occupants of a white Toyota Quantum were acting suspiciously.

They pulled the vehicle over near the Benoni area and a thorough search of the vehicle and occupants was conducted.

It yielded the recovery of an unlicensed 9mm Norinco pistol with nine live rounds of ammunition, a toy gun, a bag containing cash over R1 000, numerous cellphones, a bolt cutter, a crowbar and several airtime vouchers.

The suspects could not give any valid explanation as to the goods and were arrested.

The pistol’s serial number was tested and returned as positively stolen on a Honeydew case from March 2020.

Two suspects were arrested for being found with double truck trailers that are reported hijacked in Orange Farm.

The suspects will be facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen goods and possession of house break-in implements in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.

Officers then followed up on information from a security company at around 13:30 at a shopping centre in Impala Park for a stolen motor vehicle.

Two suspects were arrested for being found with double truck trailers that are reported hijacked in Orange Farm.

A suspect was arrested with a white Mazda Rustler reported stolen on a Modimole case. He will be facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle in the Boksburg Magistrates court.

At 17:45 officers followed up on information that led them to a truck stop in Maple Street, Pomona. Two suspects were arrested for being with double truck trailers that are reported hijacked in Orange Farm.

They will be facing charges in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

A white Big Boy motorcycle was found abandoned on Northern Road, Boksburg. The motorcycle was reported stolen on a Kempton Park case.

Investigations into all matters will continue.
