Bedfordview’s Hannah is a dance champion

This year’s Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Sport Festival, known as “The Battle” returned to Sun City after two years, celebrating 30 years of dance.

Bedfordview dancer, Hannah Coetzee was crowned as the Freestyle Dance Junior Winner in the Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Sport Festival.

This year’s Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Sport Festival, known as “The Battle”, returned to Sun City after two years, celebrating 30 years of dance.

The event attracted over 613 dancers from 57 dance schools nationally.

The Battle is the largest and most respected all styles dance competition on the annual calendar.

This event was initially hosted at Molopo Sun Hotel, with 89 dancers. When this hotel was sold by Sun International, it was moved to Sun City in 1999, where it has grown from strength to strength over the years and allowed the dancers to compete in world-class facilities at the Superbowl.

President of the South African Body of Dance, and organiser of the competition, Bev Wood, said that she was grateful and appreciative of the support received this year.

She thanked all the dedicated people who contributed to making this event a success over the past three decades.

Wood added that the dance competition had an exciting edge this year and the dancers challenged themselves.

Darren is a former freestyle winner at The Battle.

Hannah Coetzee from Dance Illusions Dance School, Bedfordview, was crowned the Freestyle Dance Junior Winner in the Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Sport Festival.
