SAPS investigating Meadowdale CIT robbery

“The CIT guards were collecting the money when they were accosted by two suspects.”

SAPS are investigating a CIT robbery after suspects robbed guards collecting money at Meadowdale Mall.

The incident occurred on February 14 at the shopping centre.

SAPS spokesperson Lt-Col Robert Netshiunda confirmed on February 15 that the matter was under investigation.

Netshiunda said, “The CIT guards were collecting the money when they were accosted by two suspects.”

He said shots were fired while suspects tried to disarm the guards.

At the scene, the NEWS counted close to thirty shell case markers, placed by members of law enforcement.

At least one tyre of the CIT vehicle was deflated while a community members vehicle was allegedly struck by a bullet.

Netshiunda said it is currently unknown how many suspects were involved in the crime.

He said the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
