Nothing could stop the NEWS from hosting its favourite Caxton Cares calendar event.

Despite the pandemic and the related restrictions, community members opened their hearts and wallets to bring much-needed festive joy to the learners at the educare centre.

Held on December 7, the 13th annual Bedfordview and Edenvale News and Pinocchio Christmas party was made possible through the generosity of NEWS’ readers and advertisers, namely Karaglen SUPERSPAR and De Backery.

Watch:

Karaglen SUPERSPAR provided the children with a goodie bag filled with treats, a surprise and a Christmas cracker, while De Backery provided muffins.

The office administrator of Child Welfare SA – Edenvale and Bedfordview, Jenny Kennedy, thanked the NEWS team, its advertisers and the community for making this Christmas special for the learners at the centre.

With Covid-19 regulations in place, things were done a little differently this year.

Community members were asked to bring the presents to the NEWS offices unwrapped, where they would be sanitised before being wrapped and taken to the centre.

At the centre, each child sat individually at a desk to ensure social distancing. Gifts and goodie bags were brought to them, giving them plenty of room to open their presents.

Once the gifts were unwrapped, the learners enjoyed playing with them before having something to eat and enjoying the rest of the day with the educare staff.
