St Andrew’s swimmers shine

Caitlin swam a two-second personal best in the 200m individual medley.

St Andrew’s School for Girls swimmers Shannen Kench (Grade 11), Tyla Campbell (Grade 11), Caitlin Herbst (Grade Nine) and Acacia-Cailyn Abell (Grade Seven) recently took part in the Seagulls Winter Short Course Championships.

Caitlin swam a two-second personal best in the 200m individual medley, placed third in u-15 and fourth overall in the 400m freestyle event. She also finished fourth in the 200m backstroke.

Shannen dropped two seconds in her 200m individual medley race and finished ninth in the 100m backstroke. She dropped four seconds in her 400m freestyle and finished 10th in the 200m free and seventh in the 200m backstroke events.

Tyla placed in the top 10 for four out of the five races swum, placing third in 100m and 200m backstroke and achieving SA Senior National qualifying times in those events. She also swam her personal best times, improving by two seconds in the 100m backstroke, three seconds in 200m back and three seconds in 200m freestyle.

Acacia-Cailyn placed second in 100m breaststroke and just missed third place in her 200m breaststroke race.
