Choosing a school with Holy Rosary

There is so much to consider, and with Covid-19 and the changing educational landscape, we at Holy Rosary School have found that many parents feel unsure about what their children will need in the future.

Our children are our most precious gifts and choosing the right school for each child can be a stressful decision.

There is so much to consider, and with Covid-19 and the changing educational landscape, we at Holy Rosary School have found that many parents feel unsure about what their children will need in the future.

As parents, we want to give our children the best education possible, but what does that mean?

Here are some questions that we think will be helpful when making this decision.

What has changed in schools since Covid-19?
Online learning during Covid changed the education process and catapulted us into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

While academic learning can be done online, children are losing out on important social skills and this impacts their mental and social wellness.

We have found that children need to interact in person to develop very important soft skills and emotional intelligence.

At Holy Rosary, we introduced various ways of managing this challenge, for example, regular one-on-one teacher and child chats, weekly ‘catch-up’ circles where the class gets to chat to each other, fun games, online exercise sessions and activities to keep the girls laughing.

What does my child need for her future?
The Fourth Industrial Revolution means in the future machines will do linear, repetitive work.
People will require skills that are related to thinking and understanding.

A full list of skills needed, as identified by the World Economic Forum, can be found in the “Guide to Choosing a School” on the Holy Rosary School website.

As well as the academic curriculum, we focus on the social and thinking skills our girls require to succeed in our advanced world.

Does your school fit my family values and needs?
A school must teach children more than just academics.

Holy Rosary is grounded in Christian values and is known for producing strong women with good character.

Our world needs this generation to be active citizens and courageous young women who are able to make a significant contribution in their communities.

A smaller environment enables us to respect and celebrate diversity.

We ensure each child gets the love and nurturing they need to feel that they fully belong to the Holy Rosary family.

What qualifications and experience do your teachers have?
We have a rich, 81-year history of consistently high-quality education and outstanding matric results.

We have exceptional teachers who are carefully chosen and reflect our values and ethos.

They are well qualified, passionate and experienced professionals.

What do your fees include and are there any hidden extras?

We are an independent, non-profit educational institution where every cent goes to ensuring our girls get the best holistic education.

Our fee structure is simple and transparent and includes all textbooks, materials, extra-murals, excursions and all sundries. Fees are paid over 11 months and there is one annual general levy that is paid in February each year.

Our fees also include assessments in the different phases, the IEB fee in Grade 12 and ongoing access to our school psychologist and counsellor.

There are no hidden costs and no extras charged for each month.

We would love to meet you and assist in any way.

We invite you to call us, chat with us (in person or online), book a tour of the school and arrange a “Day at Holy Rosary” for your daughter to fully experience our culture.

You will be able to download the brochure, “How to choose a school for your child” at www.holyrosaryschool.website.co.za
