Ensure your children are vaccinated

Vaccines stimulate the body’s immune system, which helps to prevent and protect children from serious illnesses.

Parents and guardians are reminded that every day is immunisation day in the City of Ekurhuleni.

Despite her fears, Mbali Radebe braved it all and visited a local clinic to have her newborn vaccinated for the first time.

“As a young mother to a six-week-old baby, I was very nervous to bring my baby to the clinic for her first immunisation, but was relieved to see that all Covid-19 protocols are observed by the clinic,” Radebe said.

“This gave me peace of mind, knowing that my baby and I are in safe hands.”

MMC for health and social development Clr Nomadlozi Nkosi pleaded with parents and guardians to have their children immunised.

“Do not miss the immunisation date for your child just because we are living in the era of Covid-19,” said Nkosi.

“As a City, we pride ourselves on adhering to all Covid-19 protocols in our health centres to ensure all visitors are safe and protected.”

The City’s health practitioners reiterated the MMC’s call for parents to ensure children should be vaccinated according to their road to health card.

Even if the road to health card has been lost or misplaced, parents are advised to take their children to the clinic.

Vaccines stimulate the body’s immune system, which helps to prevent and protect children from serious illnesses, such as polio, hepatitis, measles, meningitis, diphtheria, pneumonia and other life-threatening illnesses that affect the growth of a child.
