ESP places eighth at Hillcrest event

Barbour improved his times in all 12 events with 16 personal bests (PBs), he accumulated 116 points for ESP and was the only swimmer at the gala to swim 12 events.

Level two swimmers from ESP swam their way into 34 finals and placed eighth overall when they competed in a Hillcrest swimming event. The event was held by Swim SA, with strict Covid-19 regulations and restrictions.

All swimming events held by the organisers are live-streamed so parents and spectators can watch from the comfort of their homes.

Results for the clubs, which cater to Edenvale, Kempton Park and the surrounding areas, are as follows:

• Karl Barbour swam in 12 events, nine finals and won a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke. He improved his times in all 12 events with 16 personal bests (PBs), he accumulated 116 points for ESP and was the only swimmer at the gala to swim 12 events.
• Kael Ebrahim swam in nine events, eight finals and won a silver medal for the 50m backstroke and a bronze medal for the 100m backstroke. He improved his times and attained 11 PBs, and scored 115 points.
• Jared Wade swam in 10 events, five finals and received two gold medals for 50m and 100m butterfly. He achieved 11 PBs and scored 75 points for ESP.
• Rone Joubert swam in 10 events, four finals and won a gold medal for the 100m butterfly. She attained five personal bests and won seven points for the club.
• Ludolph Joubert swam in eight events, four finals and achieved nine PBs. He won 41 points for the club.
• Graham Peacock swam in 11 events, three finals and attained eight PBs. He scored 29 points.
• Danika Brechenmacher swam in four events, two finals, and scored seven points.
