Sebenza SAPS catch alleged scammers

Both men were charged with theft, fraud and possession of stolen property.

Two men were arrested by Sebenza SAPS on October 20 after they allegedly tried to scam their victim of his phone.

Spokesperson for Sebenza SAPS Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso said herself and Sgt Tshunungwa received information that the victim would be scammed.

She said the victim received a call that the work cellphone delivered to him a few days prior was faulty and needed to be collected again.

“The victim suspected he was about to be scammed and called his office to verify whether the phone needed to be collected again.
