Young artist excited over album release

Sticking true to his musical roots, Gift includes his hip-hop musical stylings but tries to incorporate other genres where he can.

Edenvale artist and resident Gift ‘Day Day’ Tshabalala is on the fast track of making his musical dream a reality.

When the NEWS last met with Gift in August he had ambitions of establishing his record label.

Two months later the independent artist is still hoping to establish a record label but has in the meantime released his first album.

Titled Day Two, the album consists of six tracks and includes a collaboration with another artist.

It was released on October 7.

“I am so excited about this dream to finally become a reality. It was not easy but I have finally achieved one of the goals that I set out to achieve,” said Gift.

“The tracks in the album cover a variety of topics ranging from love to peace and are inspired by my day to day experiences and what I see happening in society around me.”

Gift said although this is a great milestone for him he still hopes to achieve great things in his life.

Although he did no participate in any musical activities as a child, Gift said he was always drawn to music and would purchase CDs whenever he could.

At the age of 15, Gift decided to take his passion more seriously. As a teenager, he and his friends would often host cyphers and battle one another to determine who was producing better lyrics.

After leaving high school, Gift started working on his EP.

In one of the love songs on the album, he tries to create a fusion of African cultures together blending the languages and the styles.

“I believe there is something for everyone on my album,” said Gift.

“There are songs that everyone can enjoy and messages that everyone can take away from the album.”
