Bedfordview consumers’ league weighs in on supporting local business

“Supporting the local businesses in our area means we have a chance to keep things in the community turning."

Local businesses have placed a great amount of focus on delivering great service.

And, according to Bedfordview Household Consumers League (HCL) secretary Ina Loizides, this is exactly where their focus needs to be if businesses hope to see a return in their customer base in the new normal.

She said lockdown and the pandemic were being detrimental for many local businesses.

“Supporting the local businesses in our area means we have a chance to keep things in the community turning. “We don’t always know the benefits of supporting local businesses. Supporting local businesses keeps the community alive,” said Ina.

She added during these times, local businesses can only benefit from putting focus back on the quality of the products they sell as well as the service they render to customers.

“It has not been easy for local businesses. Many have closed down,” Ina said.

She encouraged local businesses to keep up the work many have put in to keep customers satisfied. She urged gardeners to support their local nurseries and home industry outlets.

“These are small businesses that are struggling to get to the end of the tunnel.”

Due to the pandemic, the HCL has not held a meeting for 2020.

The HCL hopes to be up and running next year with a line-up of exciting speakers. As always, new members are welcomed to join in.

Ina said once open again, the HCL would look forward to tackling complaints and concerns of the consumers again.
