Man charged with fiancée’s murder released on R10k bail

Ntsibande obtained new legal representative and applied for bail despite his initial decision to abandon the bail application

Mosa Ntsibande, who stands accused of the murder of his fiancée, Hlengiwe Msimango from Birch Acres, was granted R10 000 bail on October 9, with the court imposing certain conditions to the bail release.

Ntsibande pleaded not guilty.

A number of bail conditions were determined by the court, which included him reporting to the police station twice a week.

If the accused fails to comply with the conditions set for bail, a warrant of arrest will be issued.

Covid-19 regulations implemented at the court only allowed the media and family members to attend the court proceedings.

Ntsibande obtained new legal representative and applied for bail despite his initial decision to abandon the bail application during his second court appearance on August 18 in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court in front of Magistrate Veena Krishna.

The accused remained in custody, where his case was postponed to October 2 for further investigation.

Upon his third appearance on October 2, the matter was initially adjourned to November 24 as the state awaited the results of the postmortem and ballistic tests.

Ntsibande was charged with murder after claiming he thought Msimango was an intruder in their house.

Community members and family took to the streets when Ntsibande appeared in court.

“I pray to God the justice system applies the correct measures to tackle the case effectively,” said Msimango’s mother, Thandi Kunene.
