Woman (76) critical following Edenvale hijacking ordeal

According to information received the woman sustained injuries to her head and was airlifted from the scene.

A 76-year-old woman was left in a critical condition following a hijacking in Highway Gardens on August 31.

According to information received the woman sustained injuries to her head and was airlifted from the scene.

She was hijacked by three suspects who were fleeing the Highway Gardens area after committing a robbery at a residential property.

Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso said the hijacking took place near the corner of Partridge and Glen avenues.

“At the boom gates of the suburb they hijacked the woman and took her BMW 1Series,” said Tsotsotso.

“They abandoned the injured woman and BMW near the R24 bridge at the boundary of Edenvale and Bedfordview policing precincts.”

Tsotsotso said the suspects proceeded to hijack two victims of a White Corsa bakkie on the Klopperpark side of the R24 and fled the scene.

“The Corsa bakkie was recovered in Meadowdale near the corner of Goodman and Edenvale roads behind a church.”

Tsotsotso said items from the residential robbery were recovered.
