Jeppe Quondam Bowls club gets the ball rolling

With the added new restrictions bowlers have to play with a mask at all times, and can only play pairs and singles.

The Jeppe Quondam Bowls Section has been playing bowls for the past two weeks ago, with a number of added restrictions.

Greg Kilfoil, Jeppe Quondam Bowls section chairman said this followed the green light given by the Minister of Sports, Acts and Recreation.

According to Greg the club has not lost any more members than normal, but feels there might be a spike in the upcoming months.

“Cash flow has obviously been affected negatively with the lack of events,” he said.

With the added new restrictions bowlers have to play with a mask at all times, and can only play pairs and singles.

The greens have sanitiser bottles available for players at both ends and members need to sanitise regularly with a two metre distance between each player.

Support from Bowls South Africa and Johannesburg Bowls Association has been apparent.

“They have pushed hard, engaging with the relevant minister, to get bowlers back on the greens,” said Greg.
