The Norkem Park resident has found it difficult to secure a contract at a new club, despite being unattached and a free option for the PSL’s elite, and has not been playing regular football since departing with Usuthu.

“I’m currently clubless and the pandemic has delayed my progress of getting a new club. I haven’t played competitive football in a few months but I know I’m more than ready and capable to compete at any given time.

“My training schedule is quite hectic. I’ve been training in the morning and in the afternoon from Monday to Friday for the past two months. Mainly being positive and working hard is what’s helping me towards my personal goals.

“What’s important to me right now is to get a new team and to try helping whichever team that I will be at to achieve whatever goals that they’d want to achieve. What I’m concentrating on is training very hard and perfecting my skills to be better at what I’m good at. Knowing that I’m able to train, be on the field and get my fitness levels back will be good.

“One lesson I’ve learnt from soccer is that it’s a very short career and anytime it can end so you need to have some sort of backup. I’d encourage my fellow soccer players to either further their studies while pursuing their soccer careers or either start up a reliable business that will sustain them should their soccer careers come to an end.”

The winger has been playing soccer for the past 21 years.

He has played for the likes of Atlie FC, Baroka FC, Moroka Swallows FC and Amazulu FC.

“Growing up, I’ve always wanted to be one of the best locally and internationally in soccer, so that’s been my driving force really.

“My dad is someone that has influenced me the most in my rise of being a professional soccer player because he was a Comrades Marathon runner. He was amongst the best in South Africa during his time. After he retired he then channelled all his energy in supporting me and guiding me into being a professional at what I do and fortunately enough I was able to make it professional, all thanks to my dad and the rest of my family for their unending support throughout the years,” said Ramphela.
