Cash, eNatis server stolen from Bedfordview Licencing Department

"The burglary was identified by two staff members who discovered a safe had been cut open and items were missing,"

A case of business burglary was opened following a break-in at the Bedfordview Licencing Department on July 2.

City of Ekurhuleni’s spokesperson Themba Gadebe said the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, a digital video recorder for the CCTV camera system, an eNatis server, a microwave oven and a box of documents.

“The burglary was identified by two staff members who discovered a safe had been cut open and items were missing,” said Gadebe.

He said the Bedfordview SAPS, EMPD security, and Loss Control were called to investigate the matter.

“Because of how the crime was committed the city has not ruled out the possibility of an inside job,” said Gadebe.

He added that there was no signs of forced entry.

“Keys are required to enter the area in question,” Gadebe said.
