Jeppe Quondam Tennis Club hopes to gain more membership once the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown is lifted.

Bill Basterfield, Jeppe Quondam Tennis Club chairperson, said the lockdown has inconvenienced sport players and clubs alike, as sport facilities have closed their doors.

“Players of any kind of sport is feeling the loss and the many benefits playing a sport brings, such as keeping healthy,” said Basterfield.

He hopes the lockdown will, in turn, remind people how vital it is to keep active and play a sport and looks forward to the club playing tennis again.

Jeppe Quondam Tennis Club has grown in the past 12 months, with new members joining from areas like Kensington.

Basterfield expressed they have many members playing social tennis over the entire weekend now, whereas previously members only played on Saturdays.

He included the club also plays on Wednesday nights and participates in league tennis throughout the year, including the annual tennis championships in June and July along with social tennis all year round, as mentioned by Basterfield.

Basterfield urges potential tennis players to join the club in playing social tennis once the lockdown has concluded.
