Seniors celebrate St Patrick

"The society's activities will continue as soon as the lockdown is lifted and the Edenvale Community Centre is re-opened."

Members of Edenvale Senior Citizens Society (ESCS) came together to commemorate and celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

Held on March 17, before the lockdown, the event saw community members enjoy a special lunch.

ESCS committee member Linda Ranwell said most members realised they would not be able to mix socially for a while so enjoyed the company while they could.

Those in attendance were treated to Irish-inspired meals, such as leek and potato soup and a corned beef main course with a green jelly and cream dessert.

“The society’s activities will continue as soon as the lockdown is lifted and the Edenvale Community Centre is re-opened.

Dressed in green, members of the community recently came together to celebrate St Patrick with an Irish-inspired lunch.

“I’m sure the gym and yoga classes will be well attended, not only for the company but the exercise provided to the elderly, which has been so missed by us all.”

Linda appealed to community members who are clearing out unwanted items to consider donating them to the society’s charity shop.

She said donations of clothing, bed linen or kitchenware would be appreciated.

“Please contact any elderly people you may know just to make sure that they are okay.

“Just a little chat on the phone will help during this terrible isolation.”
