Bringing opportunities to the youth

“The aim is to bring opportunities to people between 18 and 35."

Founder of the Makers Valley Youth Expo, Hector Mgiba, said the initiative by 94 Colours is an umbrella company for Sneakers 4 Change, Xquizified Media and World of Words Poetry.

94 Colour’s objective is to mobilise the youth through positive events.

“The aim is to bring opportunities to people between 18 and 35. We focus on photography, fashion, visuals and performance art,” said Mgiba.

“There are many young and talented people who are interested in the creative sector, but there are no support, knowledge, and opportunities.”

“With this programme people will get the opportunity to engage face-to-face with a representative from the organisations and learn more about the learnerships and workshops.”

They aim to promote and support social and creative entrepreneurship.

It’s a segment of the Youth Expo called Power Booster and entrepreneurs go through a series of enterprise development to pitch for seed funding.

“The first Youth Expo was held in March 2019, and it was a success. Three-hundred-and-fifty people attended the event in which 13 organisations presented different opportunities, and seven entrepreneurs participated in the power booster where they pitched their business ideas for the opportunity and received a R10 000 grand prize.”

Makers Valley Youth Expo 2020 will be held at Victoria Yards on March 13 from 10am to 4pm.

Performances, dialogue sessions and lots of opportunities will be presented for the youth.
