Clr Lindani Zulu and Malvern businessperson Clive Cope donated school shoes and sanitary towels to learners at Denver Secondary School.
The handover event, held on January 24, was also attended by the MMC Loyiso Masuku who presented the school with a South African flag.
“We know most people in the area are struggling and children at the school are suffering because some of the parents are unemployed.
“Some parents cannot afford to buy their children school uniform and that is why we gather and make a difference by donating school shoes,” said Zulu.
“We partnered with the Department of Education to help the less privileged children with school shoes and give some a few words of encouragement.
“Denver Secondary School is a good school and produced good results. We want to show learners that we acknowledge them and they must continue to keep up the good work.”
“We also spoke to the teachers about the good work they are doing with the learners and showed appreciation,” he said.
