Two suspects arrested, one killed during business robbery

The two men, both aged 38, allegedly told officers they were transporting the items from a business robbery in Heriotdale Industrial Park.

One suspect was killed and two others arrested following a failed business robbery in Heriotdale.

On 26 December, last year, members of the Germiston SAPS were on duty and conducting crime-prevention and stop-and-search operations along Lower Germiston Road and Main Reef Road in Heriotdale.

The driver and passenger of an Isuzu truck were stopped and questioned with regards to a number of valuable items inside the truck.

The two men, both aged 38, allegedly told officers they were transporting the items from a business robbery in Heriotdale Industrial Park.

Officers immediately responded to the scene and found the security officers tied up.

According to information received, one of the suspects produced a firearm and was shot dead by police officers.

An unknown number of other suspects fled the scene.

Officers arrested the driver and passenger of the truck.

They will appear in court soon.

The station commander, Col Mpe Lobisi Motaung and the management of Cleveland Police Station welcomed the arrest and the good work by the members from Germiston Police Station.
