ROBBERY: Police investigate robbery after children are allegedly held up in Kensington

The incident was reported to Jeppe Police Station on Saturday.

According to Jeppe SAPS spokesperson, Capt Richard Munyai, three children were held up and robbed in Kensington this weekend.

The incident was reported to Jeppe Police Station by one of the children, who also resides in Kensington, on Saturday.

Munyai said despite national media reports that the children had been kidnapped, only a case of robbery is being investigated.

“They were traveling from Kensington when five armed men forced them out of their vehicle. The children were reportedly tied up but managed to free themselves.

“I am not sure how long the children were held up. It was a robbery and the culprits took three cellphones and R700 in cash,” said Munyayi.

“The parents declined to speak to the media any further. They also left out their contact details from the docket,” said Munyayi.
