Councillor discusses motion against mayor, rejuvenation project

PR councillor shares his views on recent topical issues.

With a number of significant issues in Joburg and surrounds over the last week or two, Ward 61 and 62 PR Clr Bongani Nkwanyana took time to dissect these and how they affect residents.

Nkwanyana discussed the withdrawal of the motion of no confidence against Joburg executive mayor Clr Herman Mashaba and the launch of the Inner-City Rejuvenation Project in Yeoville, Doornfontein, Vrededorp and Marshalltown on August 21.

The EXPRESS previously reported that the Inner-City Rejuvenation Project is a landmark multi-billion rand local government-private sector undertaking, which has seen the awarding of 84 previously hijacked buildings, from a pool of about 154 already identified ones.

Nkwanyana hailed the project, labelling it as “one of the most significant undertakings” by the City in the past three years.

“This project is of huge benefit for the people of the City of Johannesburg,” said Nkwanyana.

Commenting on the motion against the mayor, he said; “I take the motion as a fightback against Mashaba, as he has been doing well.”
