Armed robbery suspects arrested in Doornfontein

Bedfordview armed robbery suspects arrested in New Doornfontein.

Joburg Flying Squad patrol officers arrested three suspects for armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition after they were cornered near the M31 Siemert Road exit in New Doornfontein on July 18.

The officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle in the area and acted on the information. Joburg Flying Squad spokesperson Raymond Sambo said suspects using a white Ford Fiesta were allegedly committing an armed robbery in Bedfordview when they were spotted.

“Upon searching the vehicle two firearms, a Colt 45 and an Astra 357 Magnum, were retrieved. In addition, one iPhone and an HP laptop computer were also recovered. The three men, aged 35 to 40, were subsequently placed under arrest and detained at Jeppe SAPS.

“They have since appeared in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court to face their charges,” said Sambo, who at the time of going to print could not comment on whether the suspects had been remanded in custody, pending their next appearance.
