#IMadeMyMark Elections 2019: Joburg East voters brave cold weather and long queues to make their marks

"About 2 000 voters had been scanned at this station by 3pm."

Joburg East residents were not deterred by cold weather and long queues when they set out to make their mark today in Elections 2019.

Presiding Officer at Athlone Girls High School voting station, Sylvia Dipela said voter turnout has been good.

“This polling station is expecting about 4 000 voters to make their mark by close of votes at 9pm.

Dipela said people from outside the province will not be turned away but will only cast one ballot paper, which is the national ballot paper.

“Scanners are functioning properly so far. About 2 000 voters had been  scanned at this station by 3pm.”
