A man died after he was stabbed at a residential building in City and Suburban on February 17.
Allegations are that the woman informed a family member that her boyfriend had assaulted her on Valentine’s Day.
The family member and a group of friends arrived at the man’s apartment shortly before midnight on February 16.
Eyewitnesses told the EXPRESS that the group assaulted the woman’s boyfriend and smashed a beer bottle over his head.
After the assault, the victim and two of his friends allegedly followed the group of men to Maboneng Precinct.

“The two groups had a confrontation a few streets away. We managed to resolve the situation by confiscating one of the knives, but it escalated a few minutes later and the man was stabbed,” said a security officer.
Jeppe SAPS arrived at the scene and told the EXPRESS the man was reportedly stabbed several times in his lower back and neck area.
He was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
“The victim (28) died after he was allegedly stabbed over an argument with his girlfriend,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesman Capt Richard Munyayi.
“The woman had contacted her siblings who came to the building where they both reside. They questioned the victim about assaulting their sister. An argument ensued and he was later stabbed.”
Munyayi said police have launched an investigation into the killing.
He said the woman was questioned by officers at the scene.
