Malvern forum gets a new name

“We hope the name change will create a new beginning and chapter in reviving the old structure.”

Malvern Community Forum has changed its name to Malvern Care Team.

Spokesperson Mike Spadino said the group felt that the MCF name had been around for too long.

“We hope the name change will create a new beginning and chapter in reviving the old structure. We also feel that many residents have moved on so we need to cater for the new generation,” said Spadino.

“We hope that this new consumer-friendly name will attract a younger generation. We also hope that younger people will become involved in the group. We would like the community to know that the only thing that has changed is a name. We will still be doing the same job that we used to do. We will make sure that residents receive service delivery,” he said.

The forum was revitalised last year after it has been silent for a number of years.

The aim of the forum is to promote the rights, interests and general welfare of Malvern residents.

The team will:

• Act as a combined voice with the City of Johannesburg (CoJ).

• Promote the safety and security of property and residents.

• Maintain and protect the property value of the area and ensure that all applications for rezoning or other changes of land usage comply with legal requirements.

• Ensure that any projects for Malvern are not communicated to a small minority.

The interim body consists of chairwoman Nomvula Sidu, secretary Rose Monareng, deputy secretary Alois Mnisi, Sibongile Plaatjies, Rupsh Singh, Martin Mogano and spokesperson Spadino.

“We still are looking for persons to join this interim body,” he said.
