Ward committee member to address urban decay

TROYVILLE – Aiming to change her ward one resident at the time.

Troyville resident and Ward 66 committee member Sybil Otterstrom said she would like to influence change in her ward by empowering the youth.

“We need to empower the youth to build a better future and reverse the urban decay in our society,” said Otterstrom.

Her portfolio deals with development planning and urban management.

Otterstrom said she would like to reduce urban decay in the ward, stimulate growth to meet economic growth targets and create a safe environment.

“We want to improve the lives of our residents and we also need a much cleaner environment. We should embark on streets campaigns so people can be proud of where they live. This will encourage cleaner homes, streets and suburbs and create a happier society and a clean city.

“We want to improve the lives of our residents but particularly those of the poor,” said Otterstrom.

She said she is concerned by the level of dumping in the ward and urged residents to start acting responsibly by looking after their ward.

“We need to be proud of where we live. A clean environment will make us proud,” said Otterstrom.

She said community members needed to come together and support the ward councillor and ward committee in order to address problematic issues in Ward 66.

“I would like to encourage the community to contact me. I’m here to help and serve them. I want to improve the lives of our residents. When my term comes to an end, I need to have improved at least 50 of the community members’ lives through education, advice, and leading by example,” said Otterstorm.
