The Johannesburg East SAPS cluster arrested 148 suspects between October 2 and 8.
The suspects were arrested for committing different crimes from murder to rape.
The Joburg East Cluster includes Cleveland, Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville police stations.
The arrests included:
• Eighteen for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
• Two for rape.
• One for murder.
• One for house burglary and theft.
• Three for theft of copper cables.
• Three for armed robbery.
• Eighteen for fraud.
• Three for possession of stolen motor vehicle.
• One for concealment of birth.
“The suspects appeared in different courts. Some have paid fines while others are out on bail or remain in custody,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Capt Richard Munyai.
