Woman suspected of kidnapping nephew

JOBURG – "It is alleged the parents of the baby left him in the care of the suspect. She then took off with the baby from the Mbayimbi area in Port Shepstone."

Jeppe SAPS has launched a manhunt for a teenager who allegedly kidnapped her nephew in KwaZulu-Natal.

It is alleged Ngobile Nkonyeni (19), who is also known as Novella of Gamalake, kidnapped her nephew Christopher Khutyiswayo on September 23 after she was asked to look after him.

“It is alleged the parents of the child left him in the care of the suspect. She took off with the baby from the Mbayimbi area in Port Shepstone. All attempts to contact her have been unsuccessful,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson, Richard Munyai.

The case has been referred to Joburg as it is believed Nkonyeni is hiding somewhere in the Joburg area.

Munyai said a warrant of arrest has been issued against her.

“We appeal to anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact the SAPS,” he said.
