Mother’s Day celebrated in style

JOBURG – Elderly residents enjoy a Mother's Day special breakfast.

Kensington Gardens Retirement Village hosted a Mothers’ Day breakfast for the women at their retirement village.

Home Supervisor of the village Elaine Halton said the Flower Foundation wanted to do something special for all the women in the village. “I then suggested that we do a special breakfast for the women. The men prepared all the food for Mother’s Day in order to spoil all the women,” she said.

“We got donations from residents and some were from Park Meadows, Dis-Chem and other sponsors.”

Janet Mees, who has been a resident of the village for four years, said it was the first time that Kensington Gardens Retirement Village hosted the special breakfast. “They have done something for us before but this was more special as the men cooked and prepared everything for us,” she said.

George Roberts and Lionel Carelse prepare food for all the women.

Lionel Carelse, one of the men who cooked for the women, said he was very happy that he had a chance to spoil them. “Our home is doing something special for Mother’s Day. We are doing it for all the women,” he said

Lucy Da Ponte was present on the day massaging elderly residents. “I have volunteered to be here to make all the women feel special. It is for a good cause,” she said.
