On the way to stardom

KENSINGTON – Dino Dru releases debut album.

 

Botswana-born hip-hop artist Emmanuelle Mzingisi Mavuma has been signed by Magalela MultiMedia, a Kensington-based music company.

Mavuma, who goes by the stage name Dino Dru will be releasing a debut album which he promises will be a hit. “I have worked with a number of talented and experienced hip-hop artists and I’m happy with what we have created,” said Dino Dru. One of the tracks, On the way will be released first and features superstar Kwesta.

Dino Dru said his aim was to get into the international market and with the quality of his work be believes that was possible. He said he hoped his music would be well received as he had tailored it to suit the current market.

“I aim to sell the most records by an African hip-hop artist independently and to have the most collaborations across all genres.” He has also collaborated with Nadia Nakai, Ishmael, Maggz, and Psyfo on the album. He said as a new kid on the block he was humbled to work with a big name such as Kwesta.

“I’m humbled by the experience. It was a major growing period in my life and musically. I grew up listening and admiring the likes of Bra Ishmael and Psyfo. I worked with Kwesta, Nadia and Maggz, these are people I respect as well. So for all these huge names to want to jump onboard, it humbled me.”

The On the way music video will be released on 27 April.
