Yeoville police tackle hotspots, lawlessness, public drinking, unlawful shebeens and drunken drivers

Yeoville police officers arrested 18 people in connection with various criminal offences during a special operation in the policing area.

Station commander Colonel Mpe Motaung and Vispol commander Lieutenant Colonel Eliam Mtshali addressed the officers before the special operation.

According to the spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela, police officers were briefed about hotspots, lawlessness due to public drinking, unlawful shebeens, motorists who contravene road regulations, and drunken driving.

“Detectives were briefed to deal with shortcomings in particular incomplete information and outstanding investigations.

“The parade was briefed about street beggars, nyaope addicts who should be searched for drugs, drinking in public and those who are contributors of house and business burglaries in business and residential areas,” said Mabizela.

The operation saw 18 people arrested for various offences. Some of the suspects were kept in custody and will appear in court soon, while 10 suspects paid a fine for admission of guilt.
