Jeppe Pipe Band performs at the Sounds of Celebration concert at Emperors Palace

KENSINGTON – Bands unite in music at Emperors Palace.

For the third year in a row, the Jeppe Pipe Band participated in the annual Sounds of Celebration concert held in the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace.

The concert, organised by Education Africa, took place from 13 to 14 March and the theme was unity in sport. The purpose of the concert was to unite children from all walks of life through music.

Various school bands from Johannesburg including marimba bands, steel bands, jazz bands, choirs and pipe bands united to entertain and delight audiences. All the music chosen incorporated a sports theme.

The Jeppe Pipe Band played songs such as the theme song from Chariots of Fire and Queen’s stadium song, We will rock you.

“It took hard work and preparation from the band. The boys certainly enjoyed themselves and it was definitely all worthwhile when they played to a full house of 1 200 people on Tuesday evening,” said Athly Jarvis, Jeppe High School for Boys administrator.
